Hello All: I attended a CSOTTE (Consortium of State Organizations for Texas Teacher Education) Convention this week. Interesting presenter named Ian Jukes. His presentation was entitled Our Children Are Not the Students Our Schools Were Designed For: Understanding Digital Kids. You might find the website fun. http://www.committedsardine.com/commit_me.cfm

  1. Ian Jukes spoke with KISD two years ago. He spoke to the reality that schools of today do not meet the needs of today's students and are not prepared for the digital society of tomorrow. We still have much work to do to begin addressing these challenges.

  2. I like shifting the responsibility to the learner. It needs to be important and revelant to the student. When a kid gets a new video game, he grabs the manual to learn all of the moves. Kids will learn what they think is important!

  3. I love this site. Thanks for sharing it. I particularly enjoyed the comparison of the slow turn around time required of the whale to that of the slow change ocurring in education. Also, the tenacity of a few sardines being able to change direction of the whole group of sardines reminded me of our cohort. I imagine Cohorts 1 and 2 feel the same way. Think what we will be able to accomplish!
